BURNSVILLE - Edward C. "Jack" Benick, 83, did Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at his residence. He was a native of Burnsville and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He spent most of his adult life in Chicago, Ill., where he was a heavy equipment operator for Hackett Engineering Co. He retired in 1986 and returned to his home town. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Burnsville Lodge No. 233. He was of the Baptist faith and during retirement enjoyed gardening, raising cattle and especially entertaining friends and family.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen Osborn officiating. Burial will be in the Rowland Mill Cemetery in Burnsville.

Survivors include one son, Charles Benick and his wife, Teresa, of Burnsville; one sister, Ella Mae Osborn of Burnsville; a special friend, Odean Sampson of Burnsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Vera Benick; his wife, Celeste Taylor Benick; and two brothers, Dexter and Stuart Benick.

Pallbearers will be Earnest Rorie, Phillip Rorie, Arlie South, Stevie Osborn, Gerg Feltman and Greg Sampson.

Visitation will be from noon until 1:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.
