Sarah Ann Lathem was the daughter of George W. Lathem and Mary Elizabeth Taylor, and the granddaughter of George W. Lathem and Jane M. "Jinny" Roark. She married Augustus Washington Roark, her 1st cousin, once removed, on January 17, 1892 in Hall County, Georgia. They had five children: Fred W. Roark, Eula E. Roark, Mattie Belle Roark, Mary A. Roark and Margaret Ester Roark.

Obituary:
Roark - Mrs. A. W. Roark of Gainesville, Ga., passed away May 3, 1958. She is survived by one son, Mr. Fred Roark; three daughters, Miss Eula Roark, Miss Margaret Roark, Mrs. J. D. Husley, all of Gainesville; grandson, Sgt. Billy J. Martin; great-grandson Wesley Eugene Martin, Granit City, Ill; sister, Mrs. Frank Gober, Rte. 2, Dawsonville. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock from Ward's Chapel. Rev. James Rogers, Rev. H. G. Jarrard will officiate. Interment, Alta Vista Cemetery. Ward Funeral Home, Gainesville, Ga.
