MALLIE LOU GARREN PASSES AWAY SEPTEMBER 11 AT SAN ANTONIO
Mallie Lou Sanders Garren passed away in a San Antonio Hospital Friday, September 11, 1998, after having a massive heart attack. Mallie Lou was born April 17, 1918 in Mullin, Texas. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sanders of Mullin. She attended school in Mullin, graduating May 22, 1936 with honors. In September 1936 she moved to San Antonio. She was employed by the Post Office for a number of years, then transferring to Kelly Air Force Base working there twenty years. She met Ray Garren in San Antonio. They were married in Tampa Florida April 25, 1943 while he was in the service there. Ray passed away July 2, 1969. He was buried in Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. Mrs Garren was a member of the First Baptist Church of San Antonio. Rev. Richard B. Grant, minister of Pastoral Care and Senior Adults of First Baptist conducted the funeral service September 15, 1998 from Portor Loring Funeral Home in San
Antonio. Mrs. Grarren had many talents, and was always willing and ready to help any way she could. Mrs. Garren was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Roy Sanders of Mullin and Walter Sanders of San Antonio. She is survived by one sister, Leela Belle Davis; one brother, J.P. Sanders of San Antonio; one niece, Wanda Davis Black of Cameron Texas; three nephews, Kenneth Sanders of Rowlett, and Mike Sanders of Houston; and a number of cousins. Burial was in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas,
