Alternate spelling of surname: Beesley

Son of Thomas Beesley and Mary Mullaney.

Born on 6 August 1858 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, and registered with the name Barnabas Beesley.

Brother of Cecily Beesley (#239482689), Thomas Beesley (1861- ), Margaret Beesley (#239666497), James Beesley (drowned at age 2), Kathleen Beesley Matchett (#66105773), and Mary Alice Beesley Main Roy (#139829661).

Immigrated to America sailing from Glasgow aboard the 'Columbia' with his mother Mary and siblings Cecily and Thomas. They arrived in New York on 5 May 1868. His father Thomas immigrated at an earlier time. The family reunited in Missouri, with the children later moving to Arkansas. Barney and some members of his family eventually made their way to Washington.

Married Lillian May Markwell on 2 November 1879 in Lonoke County, Arkansas. This marriage was recorded again in Yakima County, Washington, on 19 March 1903. Barney listed his birthplace as Manchester, England, on this second record, so it is suspected that this is where the Beesley family was living immediately prior to immigration.

Together, Barney and Lillie had one known child: Thomas Victor Beesley (1887-1964). They also had one grandchild: Gwendolyn Ellen Beesley Dornbush Parsons (1908-1978). Gwendolyn had no children, so she is the end of the Barney Beesley lineage.
