August was the son of William and Wilhelmina Schiefelbein Mallwitz. He came to America at the age of 14. August and Bertha were married on April 25, 1895. They farmed in Newville until 1910 when they moved to Milton Jct. He was employed by the Chicago North Western Railroad after he retired from farming. He was a member of Mt Calvary Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife: one son; three daughters; five greatgrandchildren; two brothers. William, of Whitewater, and Albert, of Avalon. Two daughters. Mrs. Anna Heintz and Bertha Mallwitz and two sisters. Mrs. Hannah Froh and Mrs. Carl Will preceded him in death. (source: Janesville Gazette 2/9/1958)
