Former Resident of Racine Dies in Burlington
Mrs. Katherine Voelkering, 74, a former Racine resident, died in Burlington Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon after a month's illness. Mrs. Voelkering was born in the town of Caledonia, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Seitz, October 2, 1866. Following her marriage to Henry Voelkering, the couple lived on a farm near Brighton until 10 years ago when they retired and moved to Burlington. Mr. Voelkering died in 1938, two years after the couple celebrated their golden anniversary.
Surviving are two sons, John of Burlington and Joseph of Canton, IL; six daughters, Mrs. Jacob Menheer and Mrs. Hugo Lois of Burlington, Mrs. Frank Cramer of Racine, Mrs. Irving Arnold of Burlington, Mrs. Theodore Frey of Milwaukee, and Sister Sycletica of Jefferson; seven brothers, Henry, Conrad, Frank, John, and Michael of Racine and Joseph of Sturtevant and Jacob of Cudahy; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Robers of Lyons, Mrs. Thomas
Mansell, and Mrs. Henry Noe of Racine; 26 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The body is at the McCarthy Funeral Home in Burlington but will be removed to the Voelkering residence at 509 McHenry St. where it may be viewed tonight and until the time of services. The funeral will be held in St. Mary's Catholic church in Burlington at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the St. Francis cemetery in Brighton.
