Mrs. Abbie Petty Dies;
Funeral Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Abbie Williams Petty, 72, who died Friday morning at 2:10 o'clock at her home on the Franklin Road, were held at the home Saturday afternoon, at 4 o'clock, Elder Tolbert Kennedy officiating.
Mrs. Petty was a native of Smith County, the daughter of Jonathan and Cyrena Williams. She was married twice. Her first husband, by whom she has nine surviving children, was Tom Brinkley. After his death she married W. L. Petty, who died several years ago.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Ed Clark, Mrs. Thurman Brown, and Mrs. Jack Brady, all of Murfreesboro, Mrs. Mary Snow and Mrs. Forrest Bailey of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Roy Gregory of Nashville; and three sons, Jesse, Edgar and Luther Brinkley, all of Murfreesboro.
In addition, surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Bradford of Detroit, Mrs. Nannie Bush of Nashville, Mrs. Lula Thomas of Murfreesboro, and Mrs. Era Elam of Joelton; and five brothers, Norman, Robert, Joe, Jim and Albert Williams, all of Murfreesboro; 16 grand children and nine great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Woodfin and Moore directed arrangements.
