Marie is the daughter of Heinrich Theodore Adolf Diersing and Maria Friedericke Krusenklaus. She married Frederick William Groeppe, Jr., son of Frederick William Groeppe and Christina Wilhelmina Boegel, on December 16, 1910 in Louisville, Kentucky. They had two children; Fred Groeppe and Henry Frederick Groeppe.

August 2, 1934, at 3:28 a.m. Mamie Diersing Groeppe, in her fifieth year, beloved wife of Fred Groeppe and mother of Henry Groeppe; sister of Mrs. Anna Gardner, Mrs. Minnie Heuser and Mrs. Emma Heuser. Funeral: from the residence, Cane Run Road, near Hepp's Lane, Saturday, August 4, at 2:30 p.m.. Internment in Schardein's Cemetery. Published in the Courier-Journal August 3, 1934.
