BLANKINSHIP RITES MONDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes L. Blankinship, who died Saturday, were held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church in Shobonier with Rev. Smith of Shobonier officiating. Burial was in Tillman cemetery with the Beery Funeral Service of Patoka in charge.
Agnes L. Armstrong, daughter of Durury and Tilitha Armstrong, was born in Carrigan Township, Marion County, Ill., Feb 27, 1871, and departed this life Aug. 10, 1840, aged 69 years, 5 months and 14 days. She was united in marriage with Edward Blankinship on in 1892. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive. Her husband preceded her in death three years ago, also one son, Ross, who died 23 years ago. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Lein Klinge, Mrs Ruth Mendor and one Sol Blankinship, all of Shobonier, five grandchildren, Virgil Klinge, Mrs Lula Devall, of Shobonier, Mrs Wave Shucker and Dale Mendor of Vandalia, and Billie Ross Blankinship of Shobonier. One grandson, Lavern Blankinship, son of Ross Blankinship, died in infancy, Jimmie Dale Mendor of Vandalia, the other Rlea Klinge, preceded her in death a short time ago. Three sisters and two brothers are left. Misses Jane and Dosha Armstrong of Patoka, Mrs. Anna Chance, Sandoval, Laren Armstrong, Salem, Jasper Armstrong , Clinton, also a number of relatives and friends.
In early age Mrs. Blankinship was converted and united with Zion M.E. church. Later moving her membership to the Shobonier M.E. church. of which she remained a member until death. She had enduied much pain and anguish during the past months but bore her suffering with true Christian faith. She was a kind affectionate wife and mother whose greatest interest was her family, her home and her church, also a deep desire to be helpful to her neighbors and friends. Her spare time was spent in reading and caring for her flowers from which she derived much pleasure.
