Hubert S. (Jack) Kamer, 73, of Sumner, a former bus driver for Central School there, died of illness Thursday at 12:25 a.m. in St. Joseph's Hospital, Paris. He was born at Roxton, 23 Nov 1895, son of Conrad and Nancy Mary (Hixon) Kamer, and was a World War I Army veteran - Texas Pvt., Machine Gun Co., 360th Infantry.

Chapel service will be held at Leverett and Steel Saturday at 2:30 p.m., and interment made in Little Vine Cemetery.

Jack was drafted and sent to the front line where he participated in the Battles of Saint-Mihiel, Chateau-Thierry and Meuse-Argonne. He was gassed and shot, had surgery in France and was sent home to recuperate.

In 1920 Jack Kamer married the former Eddie J. Floyd at Sumner at the home of Eddie's mother, Orlena V. Wheeler Floyd.

Jack attended Paris Business College after his marriage; However most of his years were spent farming and raising cattle. In later years he drove a school bus for the Sumner school and was known affectionately by all the students as "Mr. Jack." Jack and Eddie were members of the Missionary Baptist Church at Paris Texas. They were active in VFW and Eddie enjoyed WHD activities. Eddie played piano and Jack played the "fiddle" and they spent many hours playing music with friends and entertaining at school functions.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Fuller Floyd Kamer.

Survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. J. B. Waggoner, Fort Worth; three other descendants; Also five brothers and sisters; Robert Kamer, Sweetwater; Connie Stephens Kamer, Paris; Mrs. Ollie Thompson, Dallas; Mrs. Mae Carter, Klamath Falls, Ore., and Mrs. Clyde Dean, Alma, Ark.
