Wilma Jean Bassett, 83, of Excelsior Springs MO, passed away on Wednesday, April 13 2011 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty MO. Mrs. Bassett was born March 29 1928 in Elmira MO, daughter of Jewell and Virginia (Pate) Parker. She married G.W. Kenneth Bassett in 1945. He preceded her in death on June 19 1985.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by seven siblings; Muriel Daughters, Hilda Campbell, Nancy Pennington, Glenn Parker, Esther Mansell, Anna Sue Baker and Sterling Parker.

She is survived by her son Kenneth R. Bassett and daughter-in-law Peggy of Green Valley AZ; granddaughter Brandy Bassett of Austin TX; sisters Dorothy Heavelow of Excelsior Springs & Mary Kennell of Alamo TX; brother Ronald Parker of Tupelo MS; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Wilma worked for many years as an employee of A&P Supermarket and other local supermarkets.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 16 2011 from 1-2pm at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, followed by graveside services at 3pm in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs.
