Howard E. Gibbs, Sr., age 74, of Rogersville passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010 at his residence.
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was the former owner of Big John's Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Gibbs and mother, Ethel Gibbs; son, Joe Gibbs; brothers, Eb Gibbs and June Nolan.
He is survived by his wife, Liddy Gibbs of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Lisa Gibbs of Rogersville; son, Jon Gibbs of Marrietta, Georgia; daughter, Kathy Pittman and husband, Mike of Georgia; grandchildren, David Gibbs of Virginia and Jennifer Gibbs of Georgia; several step grandchildren; step daughters, Lisa Locke and Melissa Webb of Rogersville; step sons, Greg Locke of Rogersville and Ray Locke of Kingsport; brother, Bill Nolan and wife, Ginger of Roan County; sister, Gleniva Milsap of Roan County; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Colboch- Price Chapel with the Rev. Bill Nolan officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in Highland Cemetery.
