Charles Tasker, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Vose Tasker, was born August 25, 1858 in Scott township. His entire life of 75 years and 4 months was spent on the farm where he was born, except for two years in Alaska. His parents moved to this home farm from England. He was the youngest of a family of eight children and was the last survivor of that family.

At the age of 24 years he became the seventeenth member of Angola Lodge No. 180 of Odd Fellows and remained a member in good standing to the time of his decease. He did not seek public office but served one term as assessor of Scott township and enjoyed the service rendered his community.

October 9, 1884, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Maxton, who survives him. To this union were born two daughters, Wava L. Dygert who survives, and Zada E., who passed away on February 9, 1920, leaving an infant son surviving. Besides the widow and the daughter surviving he leaves to mourn their loss, five grandchildren, Robert W., Betty R., Enid J., and Edwin S. Dygert, and Charles Frederick Baker and many friends amongst the neighbors who remember him as a man who did his best on any job he undertook.

On Christmas morning at 5 o’clock he died at the home farm where he was born.

Funeral services were read by Rev. Humfreys, conducted under the auspices of Angola Lodge of Odd Fellows, at South Scott church on Dec. 27, when he was laid to rest in South Scott cemetery.

Card of Thanks

I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation of the many kind acts of neighbors and friends, and for the floral offerings in sympathy with my great bereavement in the loss of my beloved husband.
