MANETTA, MARY ALICE WILLIAMS, 86, passed away quietly in Port St. Lucie, FL, on December 19, 2009. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1922, Mary was the first of four daughters born to Mildred Josephine and Robert Calvin Williams. Her family soon moved to Miami, FL. She was a true daughter of Miami growing up in the small town of Allapattah in the nineteen twenties and thirties. During WWII she soon met and married Lt. Charles I. Manetta, Jr., of The U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war the couple spent most of their lives in Miami, where her husband eventually became Director of Technical Services and Airplane Maintenance at Eastern Airlines. After the early death of her husband in 1968, Mary continued to own and operate Manetta's Antiques in Miami for 37 years on the Tamiami Trail. In 2003 Mary moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida, with her daughter Mary Manetta Weeber, where they continued to enjoy thrift-shopping and treasure hunting as long as Mary was able. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charles I. Manetta Jr.; and her three sisters, all recently deceased: Roberta Jean Williams Mitch, Flora Eunice Williams Ward, and Mildred June Williams Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ruth Manetta Weeber, of Port St. Lucie; and her son, Charles I. Manetta III (and wife Maria Salome Manetta) of Miami, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mary will be buried at Flagler Memorial Cemetery located at 5103 West Flagler Street in Miami alongside her husband and parents.
