Irma Violet Austin was born August 13, 1883, near Lamar. She died at the White Cross retirement home.

Irma was a retired artist and lived in Salina most of her life. She never married. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Home Art and Culture club. She was a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute and taught painting in her home studio at 517 S. 5th for many years.

Survivors included several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Glen Nothern, Mrs. James Morrow, J. B. Austin, and L. 0. Austin.
