He had an unconditional love for his family.
He handled his job seriously and did it to the best of his ability. He was a man of honor and was well respected.
He was member of the Christian Church of Viburnum, Hopewell Masonic Lodge #259, Arcadia Valley Elks, Arcadia Valley Jaycees, The Missouri Sheriff's Assoc, Dare Instr,
Range Instr, Hunter Safety Education Instr, Under Water Search and Rescue
Sheriff Mathes died after along battle with cancer at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis.
