John H. Dommel, aged 57 years, died Saturday night at his home, 425 Manor street, of heart trouble. He was in ill health for some time. Mr. Dommel was born in this city, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dommel. He was well known, especially in the Eighth ward where he took an active interest in Democratic politics. He served as a councilman from the ward and was the Democratic candidate for county commissioner at the election a year ago. For a number of years he was engaged in the buying of tobacco throughout the county where he made many friends. He is survived by his wife, Anna, and one son, Chester A. Dommel, of Columbia. His surviving brothers are: William, of Florin; Harry, Charles, Peter, August, Joseph, George and Albert, all of this city. (Lancaster New Era - Apr 6, 1925)

Gravesite Details

This gravesite no longer exists. The caretaker told me that some older graves in this cemetery were either never marked with a gravestone or it may have been buried underground over the years. All that exists at this site is grass.
