MRS. NORMAN THOMS DIES.

The death of Mrs. Norman Thoms, Thursday morning, March 28, at 6:10 o'clock brings sadness to a large family connection and a wide circle of friends. Mrs. Thoms' condition has several times been most precarious since the birth of her twin babies some weeks ago, but it was thought she was doing fairly well, and plans were making for her taking a little trip to Zachary on Saturday, when suddenly the end came, her heart failing her. The body was brought to town from her home in the suburbs, Thursday afternoon, to the home of her brother, Ben Wicker in Ferdinand street, whence the funeral took place, yesterday morning, at 10 o'clock. The services were held at the Methodist church, and interment was made in Grace Cemetery.

Mrs. Thoms was 32 years, 8 months and six days old, and she leaves her husband and six children. She was formerly Mis Emilie Hamilton Wicker, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wicker, who survive her, also three brothers, Messrs. H. D., Ben and W. J. Wicker, and four sisters, Mrs. Sam Decker, Mrs. Gus Falconer, Mrs. P. P. Kennedy and Miss Lela Wicker. She was tenderly loved by all who knew her. Her disposition was gentle, and she was a devoted wife and mother. The deep sympathy of all goes out to the family, and particularly to the little ones bereft of their young mother, when most they needed her. But these are a sacred trust in the eyes and heart of those who weep for her to-day.

***Emilie married Norman Thoms on December 16, 1896 in West Feliciana parish.

1900 US Federal Census (Emilie's last census):
Norman THOMS - Head; male, white, age 37, occupation: railroad laborer.

Josey THOMS - age 10, daughter
Ventress THOMS - age 8, son
Sallie THOMS - age 5, daughter
Norman THOMS, Jr. - age 1 1/2, son
The THOMS lived next to door to Emilie's brother, William Wicker, his wife Ruth and daughter Gladys and William and Emilie's little sister, Lela Wicker.
