She helped organize, and worked with, the first volunteer ambulance service in Gulf County. She graduated from Gulf Coast Community College in 1979 with an R.N. degree. Mrs. Hamon worked in the safety department of St. Joe Paper Co. as an "A" shift nurse for 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, Jewell, of St. Joe Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Charlotte Floyd, of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Betty Roach and husband, Alex, and Mary Hilburn, of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, Roy Hightower and wife, Betty, of Sugarland, Texas; a sister-in-law, Margie Hightower, of Pineville, La.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at the Comforter Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David Nichols.
Interment will be in Holly Hill Cemetery.
