William Henry Boice (1818 – 1892) born January 5, 1818 in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Son of Thomas B. Boice 1792 – 1860 and Patience Provance 1795 – 1874. William was one of 16 children. Member of the Methodist Protestant Church.

William's first wife and mother of all his children was Catherine Frum (1826 - 1864). Catherine was born Monongalia County, West Virginia and the daughter of William Hobart Frum Jr 1787 – 1868 born in Virginia and of German descent, and Catherine Corothers 1792 – 1854 of West Virginia. They married on 6 Aug 1840 in Monongalia County, West Virginia. They were the parents of: Elisha Boice 1840 – 1863, Patience Annery Boice 1841 – 1925, Elizabeth Ann Boice 1844 – 1889, Catherine Jane Boice 1848 – 1924, Sarah E Boice 1849 – 1871, Thomas Jefferson Boice 1851 – 1921, William Henry Boice 1853 – 1942, John Loveberry Boice 1857 – 1875, Andrew Jackson Boice 1858 – 1934, Lodicy F Boice 1860 – 1886, Bartemus Boice 1861 – 1947. His eldest son, Elisha, was in the Eleventh Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry in 1861, and died in service at Fortress Monroe in 1863.

Catherine Frum Boice died in 1864, and William, now widowed, married second Mary E Mc Dowell on 3 Sep 1865. Mary was the widow of Joseph Runkel.

By 1873 Mary McDowell Runkel Boice had died and again William was widowed and took as his third wife Mary Thomas, widow Porter. He was 55 and she was 47. Mary was born in Westmorland, PA. and was residing in Wirt County, W. VA. Samuel Boise performed the wedding on 19 Jun 1873 in Wirt Co., West Virginia. In 1876 he owned 100 acres and was farming near Macedon, Mercer County, Ohio. He filed for Divorce March 1877 and Divorce granted 4 Jun 1877. He charged that they had not been together for 3 years.

William took as his fourth wife, Elizabeth Townsend Hearn on 24 Mar 1878 in Jay, Indiana. She was born 1821 in Maryland. After the wedding they lived in Monongalia, West Virginia. In 1882 he was listed as a farmer and raised stock in Mercer County. Ohio. On 29 Jan 1892, William died of the grippe, a former name for influenza, in Macedon, Mercer County, Ohio.
