STAUNTON-Mrs. Leona Fisher Monroe, 70, died unexpectedly at 10 a.m. Thursday at her home, 422 Grubert Ave.
A native of Augusta County, she was born Oct. 1, 1892, a daughter of the late Robert Clinton and Ginny Arey Fisher. She was a member of of the Church of the Brethren but attended the Grubert Avenue Church of God.
Surviving are her husband Harry C. Monroe; one son, Henry Junior Monroe of Staunton; two daughters, Mrs. William (Ruby) Furr of Staunton and Mrs. Hollis (Sylvia) Arehart of Stuarts Draft; one brother, Early Fisher of Waynesboro; one sister, Mrs. William (Evelyn) Plummer of Dooms; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Fred Henry Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by the Rev. H. M. Burchett, pastor of Grubert Avenue Church of God. Burial will be in Calvary Methodist Church Cemetery near Stuarts Draft.
Pallbearers will be Harry R. Smith, C. M. Baker, Elmer Palmer, Jsoeph Kirby, Robert Rodgers and Elvin Smith.
The family will receive friends at the home.
