Doris Adair, 86, of Laguna Park passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 2, 2011. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, at Our Lady of the Lake Episcopal Church in Laguna Park with Rev. Michael Heidt officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery near Laguna Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Marshall & Marshall in Whitney.

Doris was born in Harlingen, the daughter of William M. and Kate Lily (Ross) Rorie. At the age of four, her family moved to Dallas where she grew up and graduated from Adamson High School. While in school, she was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society.

Shortly after graduation, she married William C. "Bill" Adair on August 7, 1942. Bill preceded her in death on March 14, 1996 after almost 54 years together.

For many years, Doris worked as an executive secretary in the insurance industry for Fidelity Union Life Insurance, as well as other companies. She last worked with Aars & Nelson Insurance Agency in Clifton until her retirement in 1987.

She had been a resident of Laguna Park for the past 28 years. An active member of Our Lady of the Lake Episcopal Church, she previously served as treasurer and sang in the church choir.

An outgoing person, she loved to travel and make new aquaintances. She especially enjoyed taking cruises.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. She is survived by her daughter, Sancie Laumeister and husband, Jayson of Laguna Park; 2 grandsons - Bret Hawkins and wife, Julie and Corey Hawkins and fiancee, Tracey Tillson, all of Arlington; 2 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces.
