MUNCIE--Matha Schneider, 95, died Tuesday afternoon in the Lane House, Crawfordsville, after a long illness.
The daughter of Albert Lehnert and Emma Deising Lehnert Howlett, she was born in Chicago, attended schools there, and came to Muncie in 1934 with her late husband, Helmuth Carl (Snitz) Schneider.
She was a homemaker most of her life and was a seamstress and telephone operator in her early adult life.
Mrs. Schneider was an avid bowler, and she and her husband were active in several bowling leagues.
Surviving are three daughters, Lois Varney, LaHabra, Calif., Marilyn Block (husband: Louis), Victorville, Calif., and Matha Littell (husband: Phillip), Crawfordsville; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Carl Lehnert; and a sister, Martha Nennich.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in The Meeks Mortuary Chapel. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at the mortuary after 1 p.m. Saturday.
