Mr. Willie "Elton" Hinely
STATESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Willie "Elton" Hinely, age 83, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 12, 2010. He was surrounded by loved ones, Sammy and Billie Page and Timmy Gorlesky. The Effingham County native was a longtime resident of Savannah, where he retired from CSX Railroad after 47 years as a railroad engineer. Elton was very proud of his military service in the United States Army during the 1940s. He became very ill the last few months of his life and was under hospice care through the THA Group/Islands Hospice. He received extraordinary care from all the care givers from hospice. Elton made two special friends through hospice, Michele Riley and Darlene Johnson.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Elton made a very specific request that his final arrangements and burial be private with no service and asked all to honor his request.
A private graveside service in Springfield Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the THA Group/Islands Hospice.
Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
