Mr. Samuel Burgess Albea, Sr., 88 of Morgan Valley Road, Rockmart, died Tuesday, March 6, in a Rome nursing home. He was born December 16, 1901 in Floyd County, GA. He was a member and stewart of the First United Methodist Church and a member of Cave Spring Masonic Lodge and honorary member of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge. He was the retired owner of Albea Construction Company. Surviving are one son, Sam Albea, Jr., Rockmart; a sister, Mrs. Annie Lou (Glenn) York of Cedartown; two grandchildren, Bruce Albea and Mrs. Allison Reynolds of Clemson, S.C.; three great grandchildren, Sam Albea of Rockmart; Ms. Amanda Albea and Ms. Kate Reynolds of Clemson, S.C. The Funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Lanford, Rev. Alec Poolos and Elizabeth Mitchell officiating. Interment as in Rose Hill Cemetery with Cave Spring and Rockmart Masonic Lodge in charge of Masonic gravesite rites. Active pallbearers were Terry Smith, David Smith, John Teat, Howard Thomas, Buck Whitehead, Mike York, James Lawrence and Bill Lawrence. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
