Brent Welsh Hortin, age 90, passed away on April 8, 2011 at Jordan Valley Medical Center.

He was born June 6, 1920 in Lewiston, Cache County, Utah the third son of Joseph Edmund Hortin and Eleanor Welsh Hortin. The family moved from the family farm in 1936. He graduated from Logan High School in 1938.

He moved to California shortly before World War II. He served in the Army in the U.S. and Europe in the Medical Division of the Army Air Corp. He married Laura Nebeker on October 22, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was employed at the Veteran's Regional Office, and later was employed by First Security Bank for over thirty years.

He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. He loved all sports, football was his favorite. He liked to go fishing especially with friends and family. He also liked to read, travel, and things that had to do with history.

Survived by his daughter, Marie, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, Sherman and Kenneth, and a nephew.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Midvale Fourth Ward Chapel, 87 East 7100 South. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
Interment will follow in the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East College Street (4580 South).
