Julius George Zetocha

Julius Zetocha was born in Horni Becva, Moravia, Czechoslovakia on December 21, 1887 and died at the David City Hospital on March 5, 1969 at the age of 81 years, two months and 12 days.

He was the eldest son of John and Frances (Kromlis) Zetocha. He came to the United States by ship when a lad of 18 and settled in Weston, where he lived with an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Zitnik. He worked several years for the railroad in Weston.

On November 6, 1916 he was married to Frances Zetocha (his first cousin), then of Weston, at Billings, Montana, living in Montana a year prior to their marriage. They returned to Nebraska where they set up housekeeping on a farm west of Weston.

He farmed most of his life near Brainard, Milford and Touhy, retiring in 1952 moving to Weston. There he lived 15 and a half years before going to the Gray's Nursing Home in David City, Nebraska.

He wife Frances died on March 11, 1966 and his eldest son, Julius, Jr., on November 30, 1945 while in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by a son, Ernest of Valparaiso and five daughters, Mrs. Louis (Irene) Tvrdy of Ceresco; Mrs. Donald (Elizabeth) Hall of Fullerton, California; Mrs. Edward (Marguerite) Tomsicek of Ithaca; Mrs. Joseph (Frances) Matejcek of Brainard; Mrs. Donald (Bonita) Arney of Wahoo; two brother, John of Weston and Joseph of Horni Bevca, Czechoslovakia; 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers of Czechoslovakia.

Services were held Saturday, March 8, 1969 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Weston with Rev. Otto Eckhamel officiating. Interment was in the St. John's Cemetery beside his wife and son with Svboda Funeral Home in charge.

Casket bearers were grandsons, Richard and Kenneth Tvrdy, Raymond Arney, Gene Petrzilka, Marvin Tomsicek and nephew, Donald Zetocha.
