Florence H. Gerritsen, 96, of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at St. Joseph Villa in Omaha.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Jim Moores officiating. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Graceland Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Gerritsen was born Sept. 6, 1908, in Pender, Neb., the daughter of Wallace V. and Amelia M. (Martin) Schadbolt. She was the eighth of 13 children.
In the 1940s, she moved to Sioux City, where she met her husband, Peter Gerritsen. They were married on Nov. 12, 1949, in Sioux City and lived in Sioux City. Peter died Oct. 10, 1985, in Sioux City.
Two years later, she moved to Omaha to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Julie and Jim Buckler of Omaha; a granddaughter and her husband, Stacey and Steve Vlock of Omaha; a great-granddaughter, Shayna Vlock of Omaha; a stepdaughter, Mine Fear of Everly, Iowa; two sisters, Merle Larken and Ruth Hiserote, both of South Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Walter Hiserote of South Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Erma Shadbolt of Arcadia, Calif.; six stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Grace Keene, Pearl Shadbolt, Hazel Johnson and Edna Brummet; and six brothers, Roy, Albert, Clarence, Harry, Walter and Johnnie. Pallbearers will be Melvin, Marvin, Ervin and Scott Shadbolt, Larry Keene and Jerry Hiserote
