VIRGINIA (PULLEN) McGREER
Virginia Pullen was the daughter of Dennis and Nancy (Kingen) Pullen some of the earliest settlers of Drury township. About 1862 she married Lewis McGreer. Her name on their Iowa marriage license is listed as Jennie Pullen. Lewis was the son of John Robinson and Rebecca (Miller) McGreer. The McGreer's and Pullen's both were very prominent families of Drury township and played important rolls in it's development from the start.

Virginia's mother, Nancy died in 1844. Her father Dennis then married Mrs. Jane Coulter on 15 Sept 1854.

Some of Virginia's siblings included; Martha, Harriet, William, David, and Anna. She also had a step brother named Franklin P. Coulter.

The 1860 census lists Virginia living with her new husband and his family on the family farm in Eliza township, Mercer County. Family #2714; Her father-in-law, John McGreer age 45, Head of House; mother-in-law, Rebecca age 44; her husband Lewis age 21; Virginia age 19 and her brother-in-law, Thomas age 14.

Elbert McGreer, b. abt 1869
Hattie McGreer b. abt 1871

Son Lee, married and moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he engaged in business. Their son Elbert, married and remained in Drury township where he engaged in farming like his father. Their only daughter Hettie, married Dr. Close, of Eliza, Mercer county, Illinois.
