She was born on May 16, 1943 at Girard, Kansas to Albert and Leona (Cecil) Hopkins. She grew up and attended Girard schools.
She was a lifelong Girard resident. She was known for her beautiful needle work and loved her family very much. She lived a courageous life while fighting debilitating arthritis.
She is survived by her sister, Lorena Lewis, and her husband, Marvin of Girard; one nephew, Tom Lewis, and his wife Brenda of Bradford, AR; two nieces, Angela Lewis of Sedalia, MO and Cheryl Hill, and her husband Charlie of Uniontown; ten great nieces and nephews; and her care giving family at the Sunset Manor and at Southern Care Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Robert Lewis.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Girard Cemetery. Burial will follow. Friends may call the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard after 1 p.m. Sunday at their convenience.
