Born ca. 1796; died ca. 1855.

A son of David & Elizabeth Davison whose children included: Thomas, Philemon (Memorial #88100394), John (140363314), William M. (89300364), Mary (Polly) Miller, Nancy Basham, Rebecca Miller (48086949).

As of March 2020, there are a total of thirteen (13) Davison/Davidson males who have tested Y DNA; a dozen tested to Y-67, and one tested to Y-111. Three known male Davison descendants of David Davison (born ca. 1748) have tested Y DNA (FTDNA kits # 22233, 78574, 177245) but only to Y-67. One of those kits (22233) tested beyond haplogroup M269, to S8172. Kit 22233 is a Genetic Distance of "4" to kit #69586, which has a terminal haplogroup of BY42859. Haplogroup BY42859 is one tier below haplogroup S8172. Kit 69586 claims descent from a David Davison, but it is unclear if it is the same as David Davison (born ca. 1748).

Additionally, the majority of Davison/Davidson males who claim their most distant known Davison/Davidson ancestor as born in either North Carolina or South Carolina, appear to have descended (possibly) from John Goolman Davi(d)son (ca. 1720-1793). Kentucky/Tennessee/Kansas-descended Davison/Davidson male test takers match these Davison/Davidson test takers. It is highly recommended that these Y-67 test takers upgrade to Y-111 or Big Y-700, and better define the relationship of all thirteen Davison/Davidson lines who match.
