PIPER CITY - LaVern J. Klehm, 77, Piper City, Route 1, died at 5:46 p.m.Saturday, Nov. 28, 1987 at Fairbury Hospital. He had been in ill health six weeks.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Culkin-Diggle Funeral Home, Chatsworth with the Rev. Sondra Newman officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Piper City American Legion Post.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
A son of John F. and Clara Anne Knoll Klehm, he was born June 15, 1910 at Piper City. He married Maire Mikolasek of Chicago on Nov. 27, 1947. She died Jan. 25, 1982.
Mr. Klehm was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Piper City American Legion Post. Mr. Klehm formerly served as the tax assossor for Pella Township and also was a former 4-H club leader. He had farmed in the Piper City area until retiring in 1982.
He is survived by one son, Donald J. of Dwight; one daughter Doris Booth of Riverside Calif.; and one grandson.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's chocie.
