Larry J. Riddle, Beverly Riddle; crash victims
Funeral services are tomorrow in Slippery Rock for a Butler County couple who died Saturday afternoon in a traffic accident in Mercer County. Larry J. Riddle, 37, and his 35-year-old wife, died after their Jeep station wagon collided with an ambulance on Pa. 62 in Jefferson Township. The accident happened about noon. Mr. Riddle was pronounced dead at Shenango Valley Medical Center, and his wife was pronounced dead at the scene. The Riddles, who were married June 1, 1985, lived at Slippery Rock RD 5, Mercer Township, with their children, Carrie Ann and Adam Lee Riddle. Mrs. Riddle was born in Grove City on Nov. 12, 1957, to M. Lee and Shirley J. Eppinger Hillmar, who survive in New Wilmington. She was graduate of the Lawrence County Area Vocational Technical School and formerly worked as a beautician in New Wilmington. A homemaker, she and her husband belonged to Center Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock. In addition to her parents and children, she is survived by her grandmother, Erla Eppinger of Plain Grove; two sister, Mrs. Robert W. (Brenda) McKissick of Slippery Rock and Mrs. David A. (Barbara J.) Smith Jr. of Volant; a brother, Brian L. Hillmar of New Wilmington; six nieces and a nephew. Mr. Riddle was born in Grove City on June 5, 1955, to David G. and Ilo J. Owen Riddle. A 1974 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, he was employed by Adobe Mining of Grove City. He belonged to Cedar Masonic Lodge 800 of Grove City and was a former member of the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his mother, Ilo Riddle of Harrisville; his grandmother, Mary Ellis Own of Grove City; a sister, Mrs. Edward E. (Evelyn "Chook") Weiss of Slippery Rock; and a brother, Douglas C. of Naples, Fla. His father preceded him in death. Arrangements are by the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, where visitation will be observed 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A Masonic service is at 8:45 p.m. A combined funeral service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Center Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock. Officiating will be the Rev. John C. Peterson, pastor, and the Rev. Patricia M. Nelson, pastor of Harrisville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in South Plain Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carrie and Adam Riddle Fund in care of First National Bank of Slippery Rock, 100 Main St., Slippery Rock.
