U.S. Navy veteran who served in WWI, WWII and the Korean War. James only served during wartime, returning to civilian life after each conflict.

Known as Jim. He married Miss Minnie Mae Fisher on November 7, 1919 at Springwater, NY. They had three children; George, Dorothy and John.

"James J. Duffy died Friday at the Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Canandaigua at the age of 69. He was a veteran of three wars, having served in the U.S. Navy in World War I, World War II and the Korean War. He was a charter member of the American Legion having joined in 1919 in Boston, Massachusetts when the organization was formed. He was awarded a life membership in the local post in Springwater last Memorial Day. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Duffy of Springwater, John C. Duffy of Springwater, two sisters, Mrs. Eunice Conell and Mrs. Marguerite Burns, both of Boston, Mass., two brothers, Joseph and John Duffy, both of Boston. The funeral was held today at the Stanton Funeral Home in Wayland with burial in Mt. Vernon Evergreen Cemetery in Springwater, N.Y." (Dec. 27, 1966. The Evening Tribune of Hornell, NY)
