Francis Benedict "Frank" Metzger, 52, of Berwick, Seneca County, Ohio died Tuesday, November 1, 1938 at his home.

Frank was born on July 6, 1886 in the Shelby Settlement, Bethlehem, Richland County, Ohio, the third son of Pius, Jr. & Catherine (Conrad) Metzger. On September 12, 1916, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown, he married Olivia Catherine "Ivey" Schlachter who survives.

Frank was the proud father of 12 children who survive at home: Lucy, Mercedes "Marcia", Francis "Fritz", Gertrude "Gertie", Cyril "Sonny", Mark "Mac", Theresa, Rita, Roseanne "Nan", Donna, Elizabeth "Betty", and John "Jack" Metzger.

He is also survived by one sister, Catherine Herlihy (James), of Shelby; 4 brothers: Bernard "Barney" (Mary), of Shelby; Joseph (Mary) of Louisville, Ohio; Andrew (Mary) of Shelby; and Alphonse (Mary) of New York City; one sister-in-law: Catherine Metzger-Allerton, of Akron; Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Stephen Metzger in 1918.

A funeral mass was celebrated Friday, November 4, 1938 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown, with burial in the parish cemetery.
