Jasper Louis Hagood was born to Simpson Asbury Hagood (1836-1912)and his first wife Margaret Meaders Hagood (l835-1875) on 3/1/l870. He married Mary Juhan, daughter of Judge Francis F. Juhan and Narcissie Ivie Juhan in 1891. He was a printer by trade, and became the Editor and Publisher of the News Herald. Jasper Hagood was a member of the Lawrenceville Methodist Church and a member of the Board of Trustees, Lawrenceville Camp Ground. He was a Royal Arch Mason and an Odd Fellow. He died in September, l913. His son,Victor took over his duties at the newspaper. He died at age forty-three of inflamatory rheumatism and heart trouble. He was preceded in death by a young son, Juhan Asbury and his brother, Olin. He was survived by sons, Victor Lee, Frank Meadows, William Ivie, and Jasper Louis Hagood, Jr., and daughters, Margaret H.Copeland, Mary H.Tanner, and little Miss Annie Ruth (age two) who married Thomas Elry Cash in 1933. The Hagood's son, Benjamin Oliver was born a few months after his father's death. Jasper was also survived by brothers, M.M., W. L. and Howard, and sisters, Mrs. M. C. Edwards, Mrs. J. M. Gasaway, and Mrs. Eva Grubbs. It was noted in his obituary that there had been five death in the Hagood family in the last two years. Jasper Louis is buried beside his wife who died in l932,and his baby son, Asbury Juhan who died in l897, in Shadowlawn Cemetery on the Hagood-Cash lot. His daughter, Annie H. Cash (d.1994) and her husband d.l953) and son(d. 1987) are also buried on the lot.
