Elsie Hobgood Franklin, 86, of Madisonville, KY, died September 18, 2003, at 10:44 P.M., at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born June 2, 1917, in Madisonville, she was the daughter of the late Bertram Bryan and Queen May Brown Bryan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Armond Franklin Jr., on August 28, 1996; one son, Buddy Hobgood, on July 18, 1970; one brother, Presley Bryan; and one sister, Aretta Bryan.
She was retired from Kentucky Resthaven, where she was a nurses aide, and was a former restaurateur. She was a member of the Covenant Community Church in Madisonville. Her interests included flowers, gardening, spending time with her family and her pet Molly.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Reddick of Madisonville, Ramona Payne of Owensboro, and Cheryl H. Arnold of Owensboro; three sons, Rev. Glen Hobgood of Lakeland, FL, Jerry Hobgood of Madisonville, and Rick Hobgood of Owensboro, KY; one sister, Ethyl Berry of Evansville, IN; 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 22, 2003, at 11:00 A.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the service time at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Covenant Care, 1055 North Main Street, Madisonville, KY 42431. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
