Leonard Wayne Hotchkiss, 28, was killed in an accident at the Borelox lumber mill at White Sulphur Springs Wednesday of last week. He was working at a saw when struck in the head by a log.
Funeral services were conducted from the Lowry Chapel here Tuesday afternoon Rev. R. R. Price officiating. Music, "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Old Rugged Cross" was by Mrs. Ted C. Busha and Mrs. A Ronald McDonell, accompanied at the organ by Mrs.Frank Chase. Pallbearers were John Heurion, Donald Mosness, Jim Long, David Bly, Norman Starr and Ozzie Nein, Jr., all members of the local National Guard, of which deceased also was a member.
Military graveside rites at Mountain View were conducted by Sweet Grass post No. 19, American Legion. Rev. Price acted as chaplain and Donald Haas was a bugler. The color guard was composed of Chas. Nicholson, J. M. Schneider, Ralph Prather, and Orvin Fjare. Firing squad members were Al Degan, Ray Bieber, Lawrence Vaughn, and Rudolph Mosness, commander.
Mr. Hotchkiss was born April 29, 1930, at Sanger, N. D., a son of Mrs. Florence Hotchkiss of Spokane and the late Robert J. Hotchkiss. He moved with his parents to Harlowton at the age of 11. He married MaBelle Breeding at Glendive, June 26, 1954. Besides his widow and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Anita Rose and a son, Wesley; also a son, Otto Duane, by a previous marriage; ten brothers and sisters; Clarence J. Hotchkiss and Leona Verna Sherburn of Harlowton, Charlotte Anderson of Armstrong, IA., Dorothy Hayes and Jesse C. Hotchkiss of Spokane, Robert M. Hotchkiss of Great Falls, Florence Thiede of Andrews, Ore., Alice Jenkins of Smelterville, Ida., Charles W. Hotchkiss, stationed with the Navy at San Diego, and Agnes Church of Seattle.
