Services Held for Mrs. Mary Forewald
Big Timber, May 31~
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Forewald, 67, wife of J.J. Forewald; were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
The Very Rev. William P. O'Rourke was celebrant, the Rev. Michael Kelly of Columbus, deacon, the Rev. Thomas Connelly of Big Timber, sub-deacon. The Rev. John Lenihan of Ryegate directed the choir. Mrs. L.R. Moschelle was at the organ.
Father Connelly was in charge of graveside services.
Mrs. Forewald was born on Aug. 21, 1884, at Michigamme, Mich., and came with her parents to Butte while still a small child and was married there in 1906 to Mr. Forewald of Melville. She had been a school teacher in this area for nearly fifty years. She was county superintendent of schools in Sweet Grass county for 1906-1908.
She had taught in Sweet Grass; Yellowstone, Stillwater, Wheatland and Meagher county schools and was a teacher here in the Rapstad school at the time of her death.
Mrs. Forewald was attending rural graduation exercises in the high school gym when she was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage and was rushed to the local hospital where she died after a four-hour illness.
Pallbearers were six nephews, Emmett Deegan of Nashua, Edward and John Deegan of Big Timber, William and John O'Toole of Ryegate and Thomas O'Toole of Billings. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, a sister, Mrs. John O'Toole of Ryegate, and P.J. Deegan, a brother of Big Timber.
