H Harold Duncan, 86, of 16 Glenmore Drive died Wednesday mornng at Friendly Rest Home after a long illness.
Duncan was born and educated in Waiteville, W Va. He attended Concord College and was a graduate of National Business College in Roanoke, Va. Duncan worked with Princeton Bank and Trust Co. in Princeton, W Va, as an accountant and auditor.
He joined Bluefield Telephone Co before its merger with General Telephone Co. and was transferred to Durham in 1957. Duncan retired in 1971 as traffic engineering director. He also served on the highway committee for the Durham Chamber of Commerce.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday in Maplewood Cemetery, Annex B, Section 18, by the Rev Gray Southern.
Duncan is survived by his wife, Mrs Virginia D Duncan and a son, Thomas G Duncan of Raleigh.
Duncan was preceded in death in 1990 by a son, George Steven Duncan.
The family received visitors Thursday afternoon and evening at the home. Memorials may be made to TRinity United Methodist Church, 215 Church Street, Durham, NC 27701.
