Our mother, Genevieve Margaret, was the first of six children born to Artimus and Edna Dietsch. She was born in Aurora, Illinois on February 22, 1924. Both of our parents served in the armed forces. Mom was a Wave in the Navy from February 1944 to February 1946. Dad served in the Marine Corps from July 1942 to July 1946. Then he returned to serve in the Marine Reserves from September 1947 to June 1951.
In 1991, Dad retired after 23 years from American Airlines. Dad also served as a volunteer with the Tulsa Police Department for 17 years. He donated over 3700 hours of service.
Mom and Dad were married August 16, 1946 at Park Place Baptist Church in Aurora, Illinois. Over the next 11 years, they had 5 children, three girls and two boys.
Mom always had the desire to be able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They both were able to see that wish fulfilled when we all came home for a surprise celebration in August, 1996.
Mom went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 1997. Dad followed February 1, 2003. Both had a military service. They left behind a legacy of ten Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren as of June 2003. We are all greatful for the parents the Lord blessed us with and for the sacrifices that they made for us.
