Asa Barr Dies In Beecher City
Funeral services for Asa Barr, 74, of Beecher City will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Cook Funeral home in Beecher City. Burial will follow in the Beecher city cemetery.
Mr. died at his home in Beecher City Sunday about 6 p.m. He suffered a stroke in his home about two weeks ago from which he never fully recovered.
Mr. Barr was born in Beecher City February 4, 1875 and spent his life in that community. For a number of years he was employed as township collector.
He is survived by his wife, Essie; and eight children including a son, Valette, postmaster in Beecher City; Mrs. Johhny Wonus, also of Beecher City; Jim of California; Edwin and Billy, both of Robertson, Mo., Mrs. Clifford Smith, Armstrong, Ill., Mrs. Glenn Reader(sic) of Peoria, and Mrs. Jack Harlyn(sic) of Pekin.
The body has been taken to the Cook Funeral home where it will remain until time for services and where friends may call.
