Paul Trushenski, 90
Paul Herbert Trushenski, 90, Alexandria, died peacefully at his home on Friday, May 16, 2008.
Paul was born March 22, 1918 in Benton County at Popple Creek to Adam and Emma (Wolf) Trushenski. He was baptized and attended St. John's Lutheran Church and school in Popple Creek. He attended high school in Sauk Rapids where he held the 100-yard dash record for 30 years and graduated in 1936. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific for more than three-and-one-half years.
Paul was united in marriage to Leone Ganske on November 12, 1944. Before and after the war he was employed by International Harvester in St. Cloud. In 1950, Paul and Leone made their home in Alexandria where he was employed at Sears and Bob's Clothes Shop.
Paul loved his church, Zion Lutheran, and was active in the Men's Club, served as deacon and on the school board. He loved nature and was happiest when he was fishing, hunting or playing golf. He enjoyed living on Lake Carlos, watching the sunrise and the loons. He played 500 with his Zion friends for more than 50 years and had high score at their last game. The Trushenskis moved to the Senator in Alexandria in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Leone; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Sharon of Katy, TX, Tony and Cathy of Alexandria; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and John Floden of Champlin; four grandchildren, Todd and Ryan Trushenski, Matt and Amy Floden; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, May 20 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Terry Finnern and the Rev. William Moeller officiating.
Military honors were by American Legion Post #87. Pallbearers were Todd Trushenski, Ryan Trushenski, Matt Floden, Amy Floden, Brad Trushenski and Dennis Trushenski. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Park in Alexandria.
