Peleg Thurston was the son of Peleg and Phebe (Lawton) Thurston of Portsmouth, R.I. He was born in Hudson, N.Y. January 19, 1786. He married, May 28, 1809, Susan Barker Lawton, daughter of Job and Hannah Lawton. He was a farmer in Portsmouth, served in the war of 1812, and received a pension. He died March 2, 1876 and she died August 23, 1879, aged 88 years, 4 months, 8 days. Their children:
(1) Hannah - born Dec. 16, 1809; died April 11, 1822.
(2) Phebe Lawton - born March 14, 1813; married Oliver Albro, a farmer in Portsmouth, R.I.
(3) Susan Lawton - born Feb. 20, 1815; married John Clark, a boot and shoe mnfr. in Newport. She died Mar. 20, 1873; no children.
(4) Lewis Jenkins - born March 18, 1818; married Cynthia Ann Peckham. He was a farmer in Portsmouth.
(5) Edward - born Nov. 26, 1820; married Harriet Peckham. He was drafted and served in the Dorr rebellion of Rhode Island, 1842. He died Jan. 23, 1871.
(6) Robert Lawton - born Feb. 23, 1823; a farmer in Portsmouth. He married Harriet Jane Rawson who died Sept. 23, 1883; no children.
(7) Peleg Lawton - born June 18, 1826; married Sarah Elizabeth Lawton. He was a farmer.
(8) Benjamin Franklin - born April 30, 1830; died at Placerville, California, Oct. 28, 1852.
(9) Parker Hall - born March 2, 1833; married Louisa Maria Rawson. He is a carpenter in Newport, R.I.
