Amanda was raised in Stowe Prairie and Bartlett Township area of Todd County. She married Leonel Bratz in August 1934 but the marriage was of short duration as he passed away in 1940. The only child was a baby that was born and died May 19, 1935.

Amanda did nursing and was a caregiver all her life. She enjoyed working on crafts and was much loved and respected by her many nieces and nephews and friends.
