Madonna E. Watters was born July 28, 1915, at Otter Creek, daughter of George and Marie (Moran) Watters. She married Leroy Marcus on September 1, 1943, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Otter Creek, Iowa; he preceded her in death. They farmed together east of Otter Creek for over 50 years. She was a longtime member of St. Lawrence Parish in Otter Creek, president of the Altar and Rosary Society, a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Raphael #1156, Maquoketa, and a 4-H Club Leader for 40 years. Madonna enjoyed playing cards, quilting, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. For over 25 years, Madonna and Leroy spent the winters in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying the sunshine and friends. After Leroy died, Madonna spent many happy years at Mt. Pleasant Home in Dubuque, playing cards and bingo.

Surviving are a daughter, Georgia Lambe of Key West, and a son, Gary Marcus of Otter Creek; 7 grandchildren, Kurt Lambe, Key West, Kris Norris, Kenai, Alaska, Sandy (Dave) Lindgren, Urbandale, Brad (Amy) Marcus, Cedar Rapids, Meghan (Mike) Schultz, Dubuque, Ashley and Heather Felton, Gillette, Wyoming; 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one brother, George (Elsie) Watters of Maquoketa; one sister, Mary Wills of Galena, Illinois; and two sisters-in-laws, Elda Hazer of Maquoketa, & LaVern Marcus of Zwingle. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter, Mary Jean Felton, one grandson, Kevin Lambe, two sons-in-law, Pat Lambe and Dennis Felton, two brothers Mart and Eldred Watters, five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Madonna E. Marcus 95, of Dubuque, formerly of Otter Creek, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011, at Luther Manor Home in Dubuque.
