Services for Albert O. Blackburn Jr., 58, who has been living in Las Vegas, NV, since 1987, will be at 1 pm Friday at Grandview Funeral Home in Des Moines (IA). Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Blackburn died of cancer Tuesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital (Des Moines, IA).
He was born in Trenton, MO and lived in Des Moines (IA) for 38 years before moving to Nevada. He retired in 1985 as a tire builder for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co (Des Moines, IA), and worked recently at Sam's Town Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas (NV). He was an Air Force veteran of teh Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy; a daughter, Cathy Ethington, and a son, Danny, both of Des Moines (IA); three brothers, Harold of Las Vegas (NV), Homer of Trenton, MO, and Harry of Dexter (IA); four sisters, Dorothy Trindle of Las Vegas (NV), Willa Mae DeCamp of Redfield (IA), Lois French of St. Joseph, MO, and Anita Leslie of Des Moines (IA); and five grandchildren.
