Lucy was the d/o William Joshua Gibbs and Sarah Flora Ann Kimsey Gibbs. She was born in Brasstown, Clay co. NC and the family had moved to Bartow County Georgia by 1910.
Lucy and Ralph Abernathy were married Christmas Day 1925.
Five children were born to them.

Ralph Abernathy, Jr (1926-1998)
Sarah Inez Abernathy Scroggs (1932-1997)
Willard Gene Abernathy (1939-2007)
Two daughters are still alive in November of 2012
