Carole M. Arnold

Carole M. Arnold, Senior Vice President and Compliance Manager for Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc., died Sunday, November 19, 2000, in an accident. She had been with Frost Bank for 31 years, having served as raining Director, Communications Director, Account Services Manager, Retail
Banking Special Projects Coordinator and, most recently, manager of the Compliance department for all of Cullen/Frost Bankers operations and subsidiaries.
A native of Pearsall, Arnold attended the University of Texas at Austin and was a graduate of the SMU Southwestern Graduate School of Banking. She was also a member of the American Institute of Banking.
Her involvement in the San Antonio community was broad and far-reaching. She was board chair of the San Antonio and South Texas branch of Prevent Blindness Texas, secretary for the state Prevent Blindness board and a member of the
finance committee for the Prevent Blindness America. She served on the Go-Rodeo Round-up Committee, was finance chairman for Cattle Barons and was a member of the board of the San Antonio area Bankers Compliance Association. She had also served as co-chair of Our Lady of the Lake
University's Business Associates. She was past-president of the National Association of Book Women – San Antonio and past president of the San Antonio Compliance Association.
Perhaps her most significant contribution was through the A-Team, Frost Bank's volunteer corps. She was one of the founding members of the group, and over the years,
participated and chaired a wide range of A-Team activities and efforts that supported countless community needs and non-profit organizations.
Arnold is survived by her parents, Meyer and Gladys Herndon, of Marble Falls; brother, Meyer Herndon, of Horseshoe Bay; and a sister, Myrna Tuttle, of San Antonio.
Frost Bank has dedicated its annual tree lighting on Tuesday, Nov. 21 to Carole Arnold's memory. All the toys and gifts being collected at the bank for the Elf Louise projects are also being given in her name.
Carole's final act of kindness towards all of humanity was to donate her tissue so that others might benefit from this devastating tragedy.
Mass was held Wednesday Nov. 22nd at 10 a.m. St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne. Following the mass, a graveside service was conducted at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park outside of Marble Falls.
Contributions may be made in Carole's memory to Prevent Blindness Texas, 319 E. Nakoma #2, San Antonio, TX 78216. Arrangements made by Porter Loring in San Antonio.
