Brenda was born in New York City to the late Benjamin and Ruth Fitzgerald. She departed this life at 10pm in St. Barnabas' Medical Center, Livingston, NJ. In Brenda's early years, she moved to McKenney, VA where she became a member of the First Baptist Church and played piano for the junior and senior choirs. She also attended the public schools of McKenney. Upon completion of her secondary education at Southside High School in Dinwiddie, VA, she attended and graduated from Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. Following graduation, in 1971, Brenda moved to NJ and began her career with the NJ Dept. of Labor. It was from that career that Brenda's retirement was effective, July 1, 2002.
Brenda united in Holy Matrimony to Sam Vinson, Jr. on March 22, 1974. This union was one from which we all could take a page as it relates to love, devotion, understanding, and commitment. From this union 3 children were born, Brenda S. Wells of Hewitt, NJ, Kendrick F. Vinson, US Army currently assigned to Afghanistan and Darius K. Vinson of Cliffwood, NJ.
Brenda leaves to mourn her loss, her devoted husband, Sam of Cliffwood, NJ; her 3 children,Brenda, Kendrick, and Darius; a sister, Bonita Hawkes of Chesterfield, VA; one grandchild, Arianna Prescott and a host of other family members and friends. Brenda was predeceased by her brother, Chandelier Smith.
